I've been
working professionally in all aspects of media for a very long time. In my very
first job -- in high school -- I was writing brochures and taking photographs.
In college I switched from English to Theater, and had started working as a
professional actor before I graduated. After that I worked in radio, got a
graduate degree, started working in television and video, got another graduate
degree, and branched out into film and multimedia.
Along, the way I put this website online, to make it easier for you to find me.
So here I am. I'm a nationally-published journalist, an author of diverse other printed materials, and a professionally published photographer. I'm also a professional actor and voice-over artist, with national exposure and hundreds of credits.
More importantly, I've also served as
scriptwriter, writer, or producer on dozens of film, video, stage and
multimedia productions, for major clients of all kinds. I've written virtually
every type of script format, for virtually every medium, in nearly every style
one could imagine. I've produced and directed productions both in the studio
(both single-camera and "multi-camera live-switched" as we say in TV) and of
course on location. In recent years, I've put a lot of these skills to work on
interactive productions of various kinds. And I provide consulting services to
producers and corporate clients, regarding any facet of the production or
planning process.
I've finally given up trying to hide parts of my career from folks who might not believe one person could be competent in so many skill areas. They'd be wrong, because I am. In fact, these different skill areas inform each other. It's a lot easier to write good narration after you've spent a lot of time in the announce booth, reading other people's scripts. It's a lot easier to direct actors when you know what it's like to be in front of the camera and under the lights. When one works as a cameraman, one learns how to frame a shot properly, first time and every time, because one knows what a director expects to see.
You get the idea. However, I'm not crazy! If you ever find a lot of Flash animation on this website, it will be because I hired somebody to do it! For now, this site is written in very simple HTML, to make life easier for me and you both.

Samples: I've provided various low-bandwidth (in other words, fast!) ways for you to take a relatively quick tour of my work in various areas. For my scriptwriting, producing and directing work I've set up two brief "galleries" of screen shots and still photos, along with narrative explanations. One gallery is for productions using Drama and Comedy. The other is a sample of Documentary and Informational programs.
There are a few short samples of my narration voice-over work on the MP3 Demos and Information page. Note: that page links to voice samples in WAV, AU, and AIF sound formats (for users who are "feeling a little bit Old School") as well as MP3 format. For another take, you may also want to take a look at this page about narration.
Quality: Besides having earned repeat business with high-end customers, my work has also received awards within the industry, from the Houston International Film Festival, the International Television Association, the Telly Awards, and others. And I've applied the same level of skill and professionalism for clients with more modest needs and lower budgets. What really matters most to me is simply doing the job right, to help each client meet his or her goals.
New Approaches: Having operated this website for well over a decade, winning Internet awards and building a large user base, I have demonstrated the ability to offer the best of old and new: years of experience in high-quality traditional media, with easy adaptation to emerging technologies. So, as the industry moves into new methods of message delivery, I am fully prepared to work with them in the fulfillment of your total communications strategy.
Competitive Advantages: For smaller projects, you can get exactly the service you need without paying the exorbitant overhead or markup of a traditional production house. For larger projects, I can assemble a team from the great talent pool available here in Philadelphia, with ready access to New York, Baltimore and Washington. Either way, you get top quality, custom service and a comfortable fit for your budget.
